Avoiding Traffic Generating Programs
If you are one of the many millions of people who have an internet business, you have probably heard all about the get-rich schemes that promise to make you millions of dollars simply by signing up and using their services. How do you ask?
Why, by driving people to your site, that’s how. About the only thing these schemes are going to give you is a hit counter with a lot of fake visitors and a pounding headache.
If you see a traffic driving program that promises to make you rich, beware. More than likely it is no more than a scam.
While there are legitimate traffic-driving sites that will help promote your website, you can usually tell which of these sites are nothing more than scams.
Any time you see someone offering to send visitors to your website for a set amount, and you can make a 1% turnaround on your profit, it really is too good to be true.
For example, Traffic driving Site A says that for $20 they will send 10,000 visitors to your website. Your product costs $10 and the conversion is 1%.
You get $1,000. Yes, it sounds great, especially when you see the added words ‘traffic from our network of trusted partner sites’.
Have you ever wondered who their ‘trusted partner sites’ are and where this guaranteed traffic you may have paid for is coming from? You should.
And you should also invest in a well-known, high-quality Internet traffic tracker program on your computer and site as well.
Using a program such as Veretracking – which is free, by the way – you will discover that ninety percent of your new traffic is coming from an unknown Internet provider.
From there, you will discover that close to 1,000 hits on your website are coming from this unknown Internet provider.
If you track the ISP numbers all the way to the source, you’re going find a dummy website sitting there. A dummy website that is suspiciously offering the same things your legitimate site is offering.
This copycat site – which probably has almost no content whatsoever on it – is where all of your guaranteed hits are coming from, a page with a redirect set of html coding built into it.
But it gets even better. Track the dummy site to intercept the traffic and your computer is going to explode with pop-ups that not even the stoutest of pop-up blockers can stop. Every single pop-up is also coming from an adult Internet website.
These are the traffic driving ‘trusted partner sites’. When the pop-ups slow up, take a close look at one of them. You should find a single flashing dot on the bottom of the page.
If you find that at the bottom of the pop-up, then you can be assured that your website is never being seen by anyone your traffic driving ‘guaranteed’ to come visit your site.
The dot is an indication that anyone who clicks on the advertisement for you website from the site they are on are going to be directed to the dummy site. 90% of the traffic is going to see the dummy site.
The other 10% will make it to your real legitimate website. These are the people you scamming traffic driving are paying a penny to in order to get them to visit you.
You may get one or two real sales from these people but you’ll never the initial layout of money you made to get the traffic.
And you know that the scammer will have something built into their terms and conditions that will keep you from getting your money back.
If you want to use a legitimate traffic driving provider, make sure you do your research to find them. They are hard to find and you may actually be better off simply using the tried and true methods of advertising.
